Abstract
1330186 Thermoplastics materials COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 25 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 56114/70 Headings C3P and C3R [Also in Division H1] A thermoplastics material for the wall of a radiation detector consists by weight of 30- 60% polypropylene (A), 25-50% polyamide (B), and 15-25% alumina (C) or magnesia. The preferred plastics mixture is 51À9% A, 28À3% B and 19À8% C which gives a hydrogen content and mean atomic number approximately equal to those of organic tissues such that the radiation detector will have a response similar to that of organic tissues. The thermoplastics material mixture is stated to be stable at high temperatures and the presence of the polyamide, e.g. nylon makes the material easy to mould.
