Abstract
1329883 Digital transmission; fault testing SIEMENS AG 24 Aug 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 39729/71 Heading H4P In a synchronous data transmission system in which a scrambler (SC) is provided at the transmitting end and a descrambler (DSC) at the receiver, the system may be tested by providing a continuous input via a switch (S1) to the scrambler so that it develops a quasirandom sequence which is checked at the receiver reforming the continuous signal which is applied to a fault indicating device (SA). Terminal (M) provides a test signal = 1. The signal emitted by the descrambler is conducted to terminal S. In the event of any 0's occurring the number of bits has been incorrectly received hence any faulty 0 bits are applied by an inverter G1 to one input of a gate G2 second input of which receives the pulse train through terminal T which switches gate T2 for a duration of a timing pulse during faulty bits. Gate G2 triggers a monostable circuit K1 causing lamp SL to illuminate via amplifier V1 for a determined period e.g. 300 ms. Monostable K1 recommences the timing period if retriggered in the operative state. Gate G2 also is connected by an amplifier V2 to a terminal Z connected to a counter or indicator to record or indicate a number of faults during the test period.
