Abstract

1328473 Bendable railway points ELEKTRO-THERMIT GmbH 14 Jan 1972 [15 Jan 1971] 1895/72 Heading E1G [Also in Division B7] In a bendable rail points, the pair of bendable rails 1, 2 are mounted by elastic attachments 3, 4 on a carriage 5 movable on a support slide 7, transverse to the track to position the pair of rails adjoining the rails of a main line or adjoining the rails of a branch line. The slide 7 is formed with a guide track 9 extending parallel to the main line and carriage 5 is formed with a guide track 13 extending at an angle, which can be adjusted, with respect to the main line. Slide member 12 running in track 13 is pivotally mounted on slide member 11 running in track 9 whereby when drive means 16 moves slide member 11 parallel to the main line the carriage is moved transversely by slide member 12 acting in track 13. In each points a number of such arrangements can be provided along the pair of bendable rails, the variable amount of transverse movement being acommodated by adjustment of the angle of guide track 13. The sliding surfaces can be provided with a friction reducing coating and the drive means can be hydraulically, pneumatically or electrically driven.
