Abstract

1328116 Glass fibre reinforced pipes BASLER STUCKFARBEREI AG 11 Sept 1970 [12 Sept 1969 28 Nov 1969] 43672/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A flexible pipe comprises a plurality of glass fibre reinforced plastics layers separated by layers of plastics bonded granulated filler material, at least one of the glass fibre reinforced layers incorporating fibre fragment of length greater than 40 mm. and arranged circumferentially of the pipe. The pipe is, according to one aspect of the invention, made be feeding material into a mould rotating about a horizontal axis, the fibre material being fed as continuous fibre and being severed into fragments after the leading ends of the fibres have been contacted with the layer being formed in the mould. Air jets may be used to assist emplacement of the reinforcing fibres, and the severing device may be arranged to produce fibres of more than one length. The pipe making materials may be delivered to the mould by a member which reciprocates axially of the mould. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,167,137.
