1327797 Electric bite indicator LE-ASTON TOOL CO (BALING) Ltd 14 July 1971 [14 July 1970] 34169/70 Heading A1A Hook lever 9 (Fig. 3) pivotable on spindle 10 and extending diametrically across housing 1, is in contact with a fishing line which passes over hook 21 such that on increase in tension of the line due to a fish bite lever 9 overcomes the resistance of spring 11 and lever 9 touches adjustable contact screw 6 completing an electrical circuit which operates a warning device. The warning device may consist of a lamp having a circuit including a battery, a coil spring, a lead, contact screw, hook lever, spindle and lamp support. In a lamp and buzzer embodiment, housing 1 is enlarged and contains a -make and break buzzer 26, the battery compartment containing two batteries and a contacting plate 27 across the batteries such that the batteries may provide a voltage equal to the sum of their individual voltage outputs. With buzzer operation, element 32 comprising a printed circuit having a pair of conducting sheets 34, 35 (Fig. 6) is rotated in the direction of the arrow such that sheet 34 bridges contacts 30, 31. Assuming hook 9 and contact screen 6 are in contact, an electrical circuit from terminal 28 via lead 39 to buzzer 26, thence via lead 40 to contact 31 to sheet 34, contact 30 and back to terminal 29 is made. Thus the combined battery voltage is provided to the buzzer and the voltage of a single battery provided in order to light the bulb 15. A stud is provided on housing 1 which cooperates with a recess in face 41 of cover 18 such that cover 18 is only allowed to rotate over a limited arc. Rotation of element 32 is effected by rotation of cover 18 having a tongue and groove arrangement between the cover 18 and housing 1 which replaces a threaded connection existing in the embodiment having a warning device consisting of a lamp only. On indication of a bite, the bite indicator may be pivoted downwardly and around the fishing rod so that the fishing line is disengaged from hook 21.
