Abstract

1327795 Coiling RIRNAM PRODUCTS Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [2 July 1970] 32048/70 Heading B3E A machine for making interconnected helical coils from a continuous wire 5 comprises a rotatable disc 1 on which a pair of freely rotatable rollers 2, 3 are mounted and alternately positioned adjacent the end of a wire guide tube 4 to deflect the wire into alternate left or right hand coils respectively. The deflected wire is guided into a helical path by a pitch guide tool 6 which is tiltable to each side of the plane of the disc by a rack 8 and pinion 7 in which the guide tube 4 is mounted. The wire is fed by driven rollers A, B which are mounted in a pivoted assembly which tilts when the guide tool tilts so as not to apply torsion to the wire. The disc 1 is rotated to advance and retract the rollers 2, 3 to cause bending or to allow free feeding of the wire to form the coils and connecting straight lengths 9. The machine may be automatically controlled from a memory unit.
