Abstract

1327318 Laying cables CABLES DE LYON ALSACIENNE 6 Dec 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 56615/71 Heading H2C During laying, an electric cable 4 and a carrier element 1 are bound side by side prior to being submerged. Only the carrier, which may be covered with a sheath, passes round the capstan 2 to obviate damage to the cable. Carrier element and cable may be joined either continuously along their length e.g. by welding or binding, at discrete intervals e.g. by means of regularly-spaced collars or by both means simultaneously. Lifting means for use while repairing may be attached to the carrier element.
