1326824 1 - (Cyanoethylamino) - benzene BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 6 Jan 1971 [7 Jan 1970] 577/71 Heading C2C In the preparation of 1-(cyanoethylamino)- benzene from a 1-nitrobenzene having the formula where R<SP>1</SP> denotes an alkoxy group having 1 to 3 carbons, a nitro group or a hydroxyl group, and R<SP>2</SP> denotes an acylamino group having 1 to 4 carbons, a nitro group or a hydroxyl group, provided R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are different, by reduction followed by cyanoethylation, the 1-amino-intermediate, without purification or drying, is reacted in an aqueous medium with from 5 to 50% wt. of a Lewis acid and with an equivalent amount of up to 50% molar excess of acrylonitrile at from 70 to 120‹ C.
