Abstract

1326266 Paper-making apparatus; fibre preparation machine NEYRPIC-BMB 4 Nov 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 52457/70 Headings DIN and D2A Apparatus for producing a web from a suspension of fibres, in a fluid, e.g. water or air, comprises a head chest for receiving the suspension and having a filtration zone 20 bounded by a movable wire screen 9, and a chest 4 below the zone 20 for receiving filtered fluid and having a top formed by parallel spaced bars 6, obturating members 13, 14 being movably disposed in the spaces 7 between the bars 6 for adjustably closing the spaces to locally reduce the thickness of the web. The bars 6 may be slightly below the screen 9 to avoid abrupt discontinuity of web thickness, and they may be reciprocated, e.g. by hydraulic jacks or motor-driven eccentrics, during deposition of the fibres on the screen 9. The obturating members 13, 14 may have different widths.
