Abstract

1325840 Radio receiving circuits INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 July 1972 [9 July 1971] 31665/72 Headings H3Q and H3T A V.H.F. converter which can be operated as an I.F. amplifier during U.H.F. reception, comprises an oscillator circuit having an amplifying device, i.e. transistor 5, a switching diode 26 connected to feed, during U.H.F. reception, the I.F. signal to the amplifying device, and a capacitor 25, the converter being so arranged that during use as such the diode remains non-conducting, whereas for U.H.F. reception the diode can be switched on and will connect the capacitor to the oscillator circuit so as to cause oscillation to cease. For V.H.F. reception transistor 5 acts as a self-oscillating mixer, the tuned oscillator circuit 11, 12 being coupled between collector and emitter via capacitors 13, 18. V.H.F. signals are applied to the emitter via tuned circuit 1, 2, while the I.F. output is taken off via inductor 15 which tunes with capacitor 13. In U.H.F. reception a bias voltage is applied to the terminal 28 and renders diode 26 conductive, whereby the I.F. signal from tuned circuit 23, 25, which constitutes the secondary circuit of an I.F. circuit, is applied to the emitter of transistor 5. The presence of capacitor 25, in shunt across the input of transistor 5, inhibits oscillation. A wobbulator for I.F. alignment may be connected to terminal 31.
