Abstract

1325589 Windscreen wipers FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 29 Oct 1970 51592/70 Heading A4F In a motor vehicle windscreen wiper/washer system the setting of the movable contact member 15 of a control switch 1 to inter-connect fixed contacts A, C energizes a solenoid 16 through a thermally responsive switch 27 to close a contact 37 of a relay 17 to energize a windscreen wiper motor 5, whilst current flows through a resistor 29 to heat the switch 27 and open it at a certain resistor temperature, to stop the motor 5, the switch 27 closing again when the resistor temperature falls to another predetermined value; and a second control switch 11 when closed energizes a motor 13 to drive a windscreen washer pump and also energizes the coil 16 via the thermally responsive switch 27, the resistor 29 being short-circuited by a rectifier 9 and the switch 27 so that no heating of the switch 27 then occurs and the wiper motor 5 runs contimiously.
