1325442 Photographic film SUN PRINTERS Ltd 21 Aug 1970 [21 May 1969] 25860/69 Headings G2C and G2M Photographic film having a transparent base and a photo-sensitive emulsion layer comprises a filter layer (which may constitute the emulsion layer) which is unaffected by conventional processing incorporates a dye or pigment which has a photographic density in the range 0À2-0À5 and is cleanly removable (e.g. chemically or by stripping from any desired area of the film after formation of a photographic image on the film. In the Example an aqueous gelatine/carbon composition is coated over the emulsion of a lith stripping film; some areas of the film are protected by black patches and the film is then exposed and lith developed; in the protected areas the emulsion and filter layers are scribed around and stripped out; continuous tone negatives were positioned using petroleum jelly over the stripped areas and the composite obtained contact printed to give a positive film for preparing gravure printing cylinders.
