Abstract

132,521. Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullager-Fabriken, (Assignees of Wingquist, S. G.). Sept. 3, 1918, [Convention date]. Roller bearings.-A roller bearing which can be handled as a unit comprises two or more rows of conical or other rollers which run on separate tracks on two race rings, the rollers of the different rows overlapping in an axial direction. The rollers 1, Fig. 1, run on inner tracks 2, 3 and outer tracks 9, and the rollers 4 run on inner tracks 5, 6 and outer tracks 10. Conical surfaces at the larger ends of the rollers bear against flanges 11, 12, or one or both race rings may have flanges confining the plane end faces of the rollers. As shown in Fig. 7, the smaller ends of the rollers are formed with heads 18 bearing against the bevelled outer edges of flanges 19, 20. The two outer tracks 9, 10 or the inner tracks may be replaced by a. single convex surface giving point contact with the rollers; or, as shown in Fig. 12, a convex surface engages curved grooves in both rows of rollers. Fig. 20 shows a modification in which a row of cylindrical rollers 40 is combined with two rows of conical rollers 41, which may or may not overlap each other axially. A cage for spacing the rollers consists of a band 13, Fig. 1, bent into zigzag form between the rollers and formed with tongues 14 supporting the larger ends. The tongues 16, Fig. 5, may be bent round the conical surfaces at the ends of the rollers. Another form of cage consists of two end rings each formed with tongues bent between the rollers and riveted to the opposite ring. The cage may consist of a solid ring with holes bored alternately from each side, in which the rollers are retained by dished sheet-metal rings forced into annular recesses in the end faces of the cage. The rollers are inserted through filling-openings or by eccentrically displacing the track rings
