Abstract
1323985 Suspension levelling systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 30 March 1972 [2 April 1971] 14961/72 Heading B7D In a pneumatic suspension system for a vehicle including a compressor 22, a level control switch 16, an exhaust valve 25 attached to the compressor and actuated by a spring- loaded solenoid 24, and an automatic pressure controller 26, the pressure controller 26 comprises a diaphragm 55 on which the pressure in pneumatic shock absorbers 13, 14 acts in opposition to a return spring 64 to actuate a circuit changing switch 27 the action of which is asissted by the force of the solenoid spring 70 when the exhaust valve 25 is closed. The switch 27 has a contact finger 73 which is actuated through an insulating piece 75 by a valve stem 54 attached to the diaphragm 55 and carries a moving contact 74 for engaging either of contacts 77, 78 connected to a relay 28 for energizing the compressor motor 23 and to the winding 65 of the exhaust valve solenoid 24 respectively, A chamber 48 on one side of the diaphragm 55 communicates with the shock absorbers 13, 14 through a pressure line 31 from the compressor 22 so that increasing pressure in the shock absorbers moves the valve stem 56 progressively against the force of the spring 64 to a maximum extent determined by a shoulder 43 on the valve stem. The exhaust valve 25 has a seat 72 on the armature 68 of the solenoid 24 urged by the solenoid spring 70 against the valve stem 56 when the valve is closed so that the spring 70 assists the spring 64. The contacts 76, 77 of the switch 27 close to energize the compressor motors 23 if the pressure in the shock absorbers 13, 14 falls below a predetermined minimum value, and the contacts 76, 78 close at a predetermined higher value below which the exhaust valve solenoid 24 cannot be energized.
