Abstract

1323544 Golf ball ABBOTT LABORATORIES 14 Jan 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 1992/71 Heading A6D [Also in Division C3] A golf ball comprising a unitary, solid, cured mixture of elastomers is made by the vulcanisation of a composition comprising 62.5-95.0 parts by weight of at least one elastomeric polymer of a conjugated diene having a cis content of at least 50%, 37.5 to 5.0 parts by weight of natural rubber, 20-50 parts by weight of trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate, 0.5-10 parts by weight of a peroxygen curing agent, 30-60 parts by weight of non-black reinforcing a filling material and 0-10 parts by weight of antioxidants, accelerators and whiteners, the elastomeric polymer a natural rubber together constituting 100 parts by weight. Polybutadiene is a suitable elastomeric polymer. The reinforcing and filling material may comprise silica and clay, optionally with the addition of other materials e.g. MgO 2 aTiO 2 . Pigments, antioxidants and additional curing ingredients may also be present.
