1322003 Polymerisation apparatus; agitating liquids CHEMIEANLAGENBAU LEIPZIG VEB 4 Aug 1970 37531/70 Headings B1X and B1C Apparatus for the production of polyesters comprises a container 2 provided with supply and discharge conduits 4, 5 and a rotation column or a plurality of rotation columns in succession, each rotation column being driven by a shaft 8 and comprising two column members 1, 6 arranged one within the other and interconnected by struts 9, the inner member 1 being formed as an upwardly open truncated cone the lower end of which has a smaller cross-section than the upper end either being downwardly closed (Fig. 3), or open (Fig. 1) to communicate with a sump 3 of the container, and the outer member 6 is formed as an upwardly and downwardly open truncated cone the lower end of which has a larger cross-section than the upper end (Fig. 1) or formed as an open cylinder with a scraper located on the inner surface (Fig. 3). The material travels as a film in the direction of the arrows 10; in the embodiment of Fig. 1, entraining members (7, Fig. 2, not shown) at the bottom of member 1 lift the material from the sump.
