Abstract

1321562 Feeding sheets TELEDICTOR Ltd 30 May 1972 [15 June 1971] 27905/71 Heading B8R During normal operation of the sheet feed to a sheet processing machine for treating metal sheets, each sheet leading edge comes into contact with a pair of electrically conductive dogs on a cylinder 12 such as a printing-cylinder, the dogs being in an oscillatory circuit resonant at a frequency f and comprising a capacitor 15 and inductor coil 16 in series, the coil 16 being adjacent one end of the cylinder and parallel to the axis thereof. An oscillator 17 having a frequency f feeds a fixed transmitter coil 18. A pair of pick-up coils 19, 21 are arranged coaxially with the coil 18 in null relationship therewith and are connected to a nulling circuit having zero output when the output of coils 19, 21 are equal. The output of the circuit 22 is connected through an amplifier 23 to a level detector 24 connected through logic circuitry to an indicator such as a lamp or buzzer. At one point during each revolution of the cylinder 12, the coil 16 comes into coaxial relationship with the coils 18, 19, 21, and if the dogs 14 are interconnected by a correctly registered sheet this produces an imbalance of the output of the coils 19, 21. The logic circuitry is such that the inductor is operated whenever no such imbalance is produced over a period longer than that of one revolution of the cylinder, i.e. if a sheet is out of register or is not fed to the machine.
