Abstract
1320713 Rotatable drying drums BAZ BRUUN 17 July 1970 [17 July 1969 (2)] 34764/70 Heading F4G A drying drum 2 is fed with green fodder particularly grass through a hopper 8 and discharged from the drum 2 through a shoot 12, hot air entering the drum 2 from a blower 10 and leaving the drum 2 through a wire mesh 28 and perforated plate wall 26 forming the drum wall at its discharge end, the discharge of air being promoted by me ans of a plurality of vanes 30 mounted on the outside of the plate wall 26 which, due to the rotation of the drum 2 by means of rollers 4, create a low pressure area on the outside of the plate wall. The air discharged at the plate wall 26 carries particles of earth and sand, some of which stick in the wire mesh 28 and are removed by compressed air from nozzles 32. The drum 2 is tiltable by means of a lever 24 connected to a base frame 6 by steel ropes 20, such tilting retaining the grass for an appropriate period in the drum 2 according to the moisture content of the grass. The members 26, 28 may be arranged at the centre of the drum and warm air supplied from both ends of the drum.
