132,067. Lee, H., and Taylor, Taylor, & Hobson. Sept. 18, 1918. Lenses.-A telephoto lens combination designed to give high magnification together with wide aperture, large flat field, and freedom from astigmatism, consists of an achromatic front component formed by a double-convex lens L cemented to a double-concave lens L2, and an achromatic rear component formed by a doubleconvex lens L4 cemented between two diverging lenses L3, L5, the lens L5 being a meniscus. The refractive indices are:-L1, 1.573+0.005, L2 at least 0.04 greater than L1, L4 1.55+0.005, L3 and L5 at least 0.06 greater than L,. Other optical data are given in the Specification.
