Abstract

1320501 Expanding pulley gears TRIPLITE Ltd 18 June 1970 [20 June 1969 (2)] 31213/69 and 13777/70 Heading F2D An expanding pulley comprises belt, band or tape engaging tread blocks 12 slidable along radial pairs of rods 11, of a central holder 10, and having tapered ended spring-loaded pegs 13 engaging spiral slots 14, or a single slot (not shown), of a scroll cam disc 15 turned to effect radial adjustment of the tread blocks 12 along the pairs of rods 11, the belt, bond or tape engaging the blocks 12 between the rods 11 as in Fig. 3 (not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), the scroll cam disc (24) is formed around its periphery with gear teeth (25) by which it may be adjustably turned to vary the effective diameter of the sliding blocks (21) by a stepping motor (not shown) driving through a shaft 30 and a gear train 31, 32, 33, 26 to the toothed cam disc (24). A micro-switch (55) having a trip button 54 engageable with a projecting arm (53) on the cam disc (24) may be incorporated in the pulley for resetting purposes.
