Abstract
1318241 Fuels ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 21 Aug 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 40418/70 Heading C5G Fuels comprise a middle distillate fuel containing n-paraffin wax, 0À001-1 wt. per cent of an amide or salt of (A) an acid selected from: (i) R(COOH) n where R is a C 1 -C 29 hydrocarbon group and n is 1 or 2; (ii) phenol substituted with 0-3 C 1 -C 12 alkyl groups; (iii) an inorganic acid; and (iv) a sulphonic acid of formula RSO 3 H where R is C 6 -C 36 hydrocarbon group and (B): (i) NH 3 ; (ii) where R 1 is a C 1 -C 29 hydrocarbon group and R 2 and R 3 are H or C 1 -C 8 hydrocarbon which may be hydroxy substituted; and (iii) a C 7 -C 60 alkylene polyamine having 2-10 nitrogen atoms having at least one C 5 <SP>+</SP> straight chain hydrocarbon group and 0À001-2 wt. per cent of a polymethylene backbone pour point depressant of mol. wt. 1000-50,000 selected from (a) copolymers of 3-40 mols. of ethylene per mol. of ester of formula where R 1 is hydrogen or methyl, R 2 is -OOCR 4 or -COOR 4 where R 4 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl and R 3 is hydrogen or -COOR 4 (e.g. ethylene/vinyl acetate or isobutyl acrylate); (b) copolymers of ethylene and vinyl chloride and (c) polyethylene chlorinated to contain 5-35 wt. per cent chlorine.
