1317790 Gas diffusion electrodes LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 31 Dec 1970 [20 Feb 1970] 62070/70 Heading H1B A gas diffusion electrode for use in a cell having an acid electrolyte comprises a steel sheet 2 of mesh construction and provided with large holes 3, the sheet being encased in graphite 4 having a recessed central area 6 on one side, provided with holes 5. The recess 6 and holes 5 are filled with a catalyst 7, e.g. a mixture of tungsten carbide and polyethylene. The gas side of the electrode has sintered thereon a water-repellant porous layer 8 of Teflon (Registered Trade Mark).
