Abstract
1317630 Metallurgical converters ASHMORE BENSON PEASE & CO Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 61546/70 Heading F4B A ring spaced from and coaxial with the body of a converter or other vessel is secured to the vessel by clamping members 13 removably attached to the ring 6 and engaging surfaces 9 on locating pads 8 spaced apart round the periphery of the vessel 1 and removable keys 15, Fig. 4, extend parallel to the axis of the vessel between the clamping members 13 and thrustpads 14, projecting from the vessel wall at either side of the locating pads 8. The clamping members 13 are bolted to the ring 6, and the keys 15 are held in place by set-screws engaging the thrust-pads 14. The clamping members may be bolted to the locating pads and clamp on to the ring 6, and the axially extending keys may engage thrust-pads on the ring 6. The arrangement allows for differential thermal expansion, and easy removal of the ring but reduces movement between the ring and the vessel to enable rotational drive to the vessel.
