Abstract

1316098 Waste water traps NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 20 May 1970 [20 May 1969] 25730/69 Heading E1C A waste water trap in or for a sink or the like is provided with means for heating water in the trap to sterilize the water. As shown, a dip-plate trap 1 is formed integrally with a sink provided with a strainer 4, an electric immersion heater element 2 being fitted in the trap in a manner such as to avoid restricting flow and with its associated cable 3 passed through a slot or orifice at the side of or forming part of the strainer 4. Alternatively, an immersion element in the form of a coil, or a coiled steam pipe, may be enclosed in a member (2a, Fig. 2, not shown) let into the base of the trap. In a further construction (Fig. 3, not shown) an electric or steam heater may be arranged in the form of a jacket around the outside of the trap and enclosed by an outer casing or/and a protective cage.
