Abstract

1315720 Machinery guards CAPE UNIVERSAL BUILDING PRODUCTS Ltd 12 Jan 1972 [27 Nov 1970] 56586/70 Heading F2J [Also in Division F4] A shroud for use with a power driven saw 5 for confining and removing sawdust or other material generated during operation of the saw, includes tubular ducts 7 and 8 formed on opposite sides and at opposite ends of a semicircular chamber 1, the ducts being adapted for connection to a source of suction and a filter bag via a pair of branch pipes 9 and connectors 10. The foot of the shroud is formed with a flexible mouth, 11 arranged to bear against the material to be sawn, e.g. a composition asbestos board 12, in sealing realationship. The mouth is integrally connected to the bottom of the chamber 1 by a flexible bellows portion 13. Preferably the shroud is moulded in one piece from a flexible synthetic plastics material which may be transparent or be opaque with a transparent window. A lamp arranged to shine on the line of out can be provided inside the shroud.
