Abstract
131,549. Holt, W., and Brolt, Ltd. Feb. 20, 1919. Exciting.-In a self-regulating dynamo-electric machine comprising main poles a and supplementary poles b, and main brushes d, d' and supplementary brushes e, e<1> on opposite sides of the supplementary poles, the field windings f on the main poles a are connected directly across the supplementary brushes e, e<1>. In addition, series coils may be arranged on the supplementary poles b. In a modification, the salient poles b are dispensed with by bringing the sides of the magnet frame close to the armature.
