Abstract

1314470 Vehicle bodies NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 13 Sept 1971 42597/71 Headings B7B and B7D In a motor vehicle underbody structure a floor panel 13 connected at its edges to longitudinal side sills 12 is spaced vertically from rearward extensions 15a of inwardly spaced side rails 15, a rear engine mount 16, torque boxes 18 and connecting bridges 19, the boxes and bridges connecting the extensions 15a to the side sills 12, whereby engine vibrations are prevented from being transferred to the floor panel 13. The rear engine mount 16 is channel-shaped and has attached thereon a mounting suspension rubber (17), Fig. 3 (not shown), which supports the rear portion of the engine (not shown). Each torque box 18 comprises an arcuate metal sheet 18a, Fig. 6, and a channel-shaped metal sheet 18b. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the connecting bridges are integral with the extensions 15a. In another embodiment, Fig. 10, the connecting means consists of one unitary connecting bridge 25 having the ends of the extensions 15a connected thereto. A centre bearing mount member (26), Fig. 11 (not shown), is mounted within an enforcing member (27) connected to the bridge 25. In a modification, Fig. 13, the connecting bridge consists of two separated members each having one end connected to the side sill 12 and the other end welded to the floor panel 13. In another embodiment, Fig. 15, extensions 15a are connected to rear rails 20 with additional bridge 29 and a box section cross-member 30.
