1314381 Softening and antistatic treatments HENKER & CIE GmbH 29 April 1970 [30 April 1969 1 Aug 1969 16 Dec 1969] 20565/70 Heading D1P [Also in Division C5] Textile washing agents which also soften the textile and render it anti-static comprise 5- 100% of a surface active composition comprising (a) 20-90% of an anionic and/or amphoteric and/or non-ionic surface active agent, (b) 10-80% of a fabric softener consisting of (i) 20-100% of a condensation product of 1 a fatty acid glyceride in which at least 50% of the fatty acid residues contain 16-24 carbon atoms and any remainder contain 8-14 carbon atoms and II. a hydroxyalkyl polyamine which has at least one hydroxyethyl, hydroxypropyl or dihydroxy propyl group and at least 2 hydrogen atoms bonded to nitrogen, the product containing 5-40% of fatty acid part glyceride and (ii) 0-80% of a quaternary ammonium compound containing two C 14-26 alkyl residues and optionally (c) a foam stabilizer or a non-surface-active foam inhibitor. The quaternary ammonium compound (b) (ii) may be of formula: where R 1 and R 2 are C 14-26 alkyl, R 3 and R 4 are C 1-4 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and X is an anion of an inorganic acid or a non-surfaceactive C 2-7 organic acid. The composition may also include builders, organic sequestering agents, bleach and activators or stabilizers therefor, enzymes, antiredeposition agents, brighteners, dyes, perfumes and water. The composition may be in powder form with the foam inhibitor sprayed on to particles of the other ingredients. The following ingredients are specified: anionics soaps of C 16-30 saturated C 16-30 fatty acids, alkyl (C 10-15 ) benzene sulphonates, C 12-16 alkane sulphonates, alkene sulphonate, hydroxyalkane sulphonates, the sulphonate of hardened tallow fatty acid methyl ester, sulphated tallow fatty alcohol, sulphated coconut fatty alcohol, oxyethylated tallow fatty alcohol sulphate, oxyethylated oleyl alcohol sulphate, non-ionics: oxyethylated tallow, coconut and oleyl alcohols- and nonyl phenol and co-oxyethylatedoxypropylated coconut fatty alcohol, fabric softener: condensate of hardened tallow and hydroxyethyl ethylene diamine, quaternary ammonium compound di(hardened tallow fatty alkyl) dimethyl ammonium chloride, foam inhibitors: di(alkylamino) chlorotriazine, N, N', N"-trialkylmelamine, paraffin and paraffin oil, builders and organic sequestering agents: nitrilo triacetic acid, ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, hydroxyethane diphosphonic acid, sodium sulphate, phosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate, silicate and carbonate, and magnesium silicate, bleach sodium perborate trihydrate, antiredeposition agent carboxymethyl cellulose, enzymes protease, amylase and lipase. The compositions are used to wash woven and knitted fabrics of cotton, polyester, polyacrylonitrile, and polyamide.
