Abstract

1313918 Liquefied gas storage containers HITACHI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 14 Sept 1970 43852/70 Heading F4P A layer 14 of insulation is secured to the wall 13 of a liquefied gas storage tank by a plurality of fastening means 17, each comprising a plate 18 of the same material as the tank wall 13, and bonded thereto by a preferably silicon type achesive, a nut 19 welded to the plate 18, and a bolt 20 of synthetic resin, having a washer 22 ar.d nut 21 on the outer end thereof. The tank walls 13 may be plates of Ni steel, stainless steel, or aluminium, and the insulation layer 14 may comprise a plurality of layers 15a-15c of hard polyurethane foam. In a modification, Fig. 3, the outer end of the bolt 20 has a pair of nuts and washers locating a moulding frame 16 of, e.g. plywood or aluminium sheet, and the insulation layer 14 is foamed in situ. The tank may be located on land or in a ship.
