Abstract
1313894 Radiation shielded enclosures RAY PROOF CORP 6 July 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 32606/70 Heading B4Q [Also in Division E2] A radiation shielded enclosure has a door and frame provided with frictionally engageable radiation barrier parts, and means for engaging or disengaging said parts operated by a mechanism. In the Figure, blade-like members 36 supported by flange 35 on door 20 are frictionally engaged by resilient fingers in slots in member 28 on door frame 21. To open the door the friction force is overcome by driving roller 39 into engagement with cushion member 42 by means of electric motor 41. The motor may also be used to complete closing of the door. Mechanical means including crank handles 74 and shafts 81, 82, 85 and 73 are provided in case of motor failure. The door may also be opened manually by means of catch mechanism 106.
