Abstract

1313751 Golf club shaft J H ONIONS 11 May 1970 [12 Feb 1969 1 March 1969 4 March 1970 31 March 1970] 7466/69 11080/69 10309/70 and 15035/70 Heading A6D A flexible golf club shaft includes stiffening means inside and running the length of the shaft controlling the flexing of the shaft in a direction at right angles to the striking face of the club head. In the Figure, tubular shaft 6 has circular external cross-section and internal longitudinally extending thickened wall portions 9 at diametrically opposed positions. The club head is schematically indicated at 7 with striking face 8. Other embodiments provide radially inwardly directed longitudinally extending spines at each end of a diameter at right angles to the striking face, and a longitudinally extending stiffening internal strip across the interior of the shaft on a diameter at right angles to the striking face.
