Abstract
1313427 Densitometer W CHILDERS 21 May 1970 [22 May 1969] 24552/70 Heading G1A In a densitometer in which the dynodes of a photo-multiplier are energized by a capacitor 25 in an R.C. circuit in which the voltage disc exponentially, a pulse developed by a comparison of a reference current with the photo-multiplier current in a level detector 30 is applied to start a counter 51, 52, 54, 55 when the photo-multiplier current which is a function of voltage and incident light reaches a predetermined value and a stop pulse is arranged to terminate the count when a zero density equivalent voltage is detected by amplifier 40 and reference voltage 43. The capacitor is charged by the operation of start switch 18, and the cathode and first dynode are energized from a floating source 19. The count which is equivalent to density is stored in the counters and transferred to indicators 2, 3, 4. Light is led to and from the object by light guides in a head-movable across the surface. The exponential decay rate may be adjusted.
