Abstract
1313233 Vernier scales D HATCH 25 Oct 1971 49398/71 Addition to 1250475 Heading G1M Relatively rotatable superimposed vernier dials 1, 2 carry respectively, markings 5 dividing the disc 1 into exactly 30 degree intervals, and markings 6 dividing the disc 2 into 33 degree intervals. The disc 2 also carries a 30 degree interval inner scale adapted to show through a window 4 in disc 1. Rotation of the disc 1 by turning knob 3 brings a number of 30 degree intervals to view through the window 4 and the odd interval differences of (33-30) degree is read off disc 2 by seeing which point 6 aligns with a point 5, number 7 point on the 6 scale in this case. The scales on the discs 1 and 2 may be inter-changed, and both discs may be rotatable if the relative setting of two shafts is to be read. In Fig. 2, the discs are marked on their bevelled edges 8 and 10 to facilitate reading.
