1312933 Hydrostatic transmission control JAPAN STEEL WORKS Ltd 7 Oct 1970 47714/70 Heading F2D In a control system for a hydrostatic transmission having a variable displacement pump 3 in a closed working circuit 8, 9 with a variable displacement motor 10 wherein manually controlled valve 36, 37 selectively supply control pressure to opposite sides of a piston 45 of a pump displacement servomotor 40 and supply control pressure through a shuttle valve 56 and fixed orifice 67 to a motor displacement adjusting the servomotor 58, an override control comprises a variable orifice 63 responsive to working circuit high pressure which opens the orifice when the working circuit pressure exceeds a predetermined value to reduce the control pressure supply to the motor adjusting servomotor 58 and thus increase motor displacement. Above the working circuit predetermined pressure the orifice 63 maintains the output torque constant. If, when the over-ride control has increased motor displacement to its maximum, the pressure in the working circuit rises beyond a second predetermined value it changes over a valve 69 which connects the control pressure supply to exhaust through an orifice 75 and thus reduces the control pressure supplied through the valve 36, 37 to the pump displacement adjusting the servomotor 40 to reduce pump displacement. The piston 45 of the pump displacement servomotor is biased by a spring 51 to its central, zero displacement position and the piston 60 of the motor displacement adjusting servomotor is biased by a spring 59 to its maximum displacement position. The pump 3, a make-up pump 4 and a control pressure pump 5 are driven from a common electric motor 1. Make-up liquid is supplied from the pump 4 through one-way valves 17, 18 to the low-pressure side of the working circuit. The working circuit is provided with a high-pressure relief valve 31. Relief valves 22, 80 determine the make-up and control pressures.
