Abstract
1312339 Jointing by forging NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 1 Sept 1971 [2 Sept 1970] 42080/70 Heading B3H [Also in Division F1] A ceramic turbine blade 2 is fixed to a metal spindle by heating part of the spindle and upsetting the heated part in a cavity in the blade. The cavity is elliptical and after the upsetting the spindle shrinks slightly away evenly from the cavity wall. The spindle is heated by induction after insertion into the cavity. The spindle is initially positioned in the cavity by a recess formed in the base of the cavity. The ceramic is silicon nitride. (for Figure see next column.)
