1311682 Chromium-containing complex dyestuffs CIBA-GEIGY AG 23 April 1970 [24 April 1969] 19567/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises chromium-containing complex dyestuffs having the formula wherein R 1 represents hydrogen or methyl; R 2 represents hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenylalkyl phenylhydroxyalkyl or an optionally non-ionogenically substituted phenyl radical; R 3 represents a methyl, methoxycarbonyl or ethoxycarbonyl group; M represents an alkali metal ion, an ammonium ion or the ion of a monovalent organic base and wherein the benzene nuclei A may be further subst ituted, in 4 and/or 5 position by halogen atoms, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, alkoxy, nitro or groups where X 1 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, phenyl or phenylalkyl and X 2 represents hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl. The dyes are produced by reacting 2 moles of an azo dyestuff of formula with an agent introducing 1 mole of chromium and when R 2 is phenyl substituted by one or more amino groups optionally acylating the amino groups in the product. The dyes give yellow and greenish-yellow shades on synthetic lacquers, cellulose spinning solutions, paper, leather, natural and synthetic polyamides and synthetic polyesters.
