Abstract
1311526 Stabilized delustered polyamides AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN DER D D R 31 March 1970 15168/70 Heading C3R [Also in Division C1] Polyamides (P) contain, as light-stabilizer and matting agent (A), Sb-free rutile TiO 2 containing Mn<SP>II</SP>. There may be 0À1-6À0% wt. Mn<SP>II</SP> based on wt. of TiO 2 . The Mn<SP>II</SP> may be adsorbed on the TiO 2 particles as Mn 2 P 2 O 7 , or Mn<SP>++</SP> ions may be firmly bound by diphosphate on to the TiO 2 particle surface. (A) may be incorporated in (P) before, during, or after polymerization. (P) may have free -NH 2 or -COOH terminal gps. or may have partially blocked terminal gps. In an example fine-ground rutile TiO 2 with Mn content 1À6% is slurried with water and 15% caprolactam based on TiO 2 to give an aq. suspension, which is added in a concentration of 0À4% by wt. based on polyamide to a polycondensation batch of caprolactam, water and acetic acid. The polycondensation is performed under pressure at 260‹ C. Yarn is produced from the polymer. Comparative examples relate to the use of no (A) and to the use of anatase instead of rutile TiO 2 .
