1311355 Granular detergent compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 23407/70 Heading C5D A granular detergent composition comprises (A) an inorganic water-soluble alkaline detergent salt, an inorganic or organic sequestering agent and/or a peroxygen or chlorine oxidizing agent, or a mixture of any of these substances and (B) as surfactant, a granular blend of mixed mono- and di-glycerides of fat-forming fatty acids, said mixture of glycerides having a melting point not less than 54‹ C. with a polyoxyethylene derivative of a higher (at least 14‹ C.) fatty acid sorbitan ester. Component (B) may consist of a blend of from 95 to 60% by wt. of said glycerides with 5 to 40% by wt. of a polyoxyethylene sorbitan tristearate containing 8 to 50 mols of ethylene oxide per mol of sorbitan tristearate. "Tween-mos" 100 VS., 240 VS. and 280 VS. are suitable. Component (A) may be alkali metal carbonates, silicates, phosphates, polyphosphates or borates; aminocarboxylates; polyhydroxycarbonylates; sodium perborate, sodium percarbonate and sodium peroxy monosulphate; chlorinated trisodium phosphate, sodium dichloroisocyanurate, triehloroisocyanuric acid, N-chloro- and N-bromo-toluene or -benzene sulphonamide. Conventional additives may also be present. It is preferred that anhydrous components be present and that any moisture present is insufficient completely to hydrate these hydratable salts.
