Abstract

1310900 Heptenes BP CHEMICALS Ltd 16 Sept 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 50075/69 Heading C5E Heptenes are prepared by co-dimerizing propylene with one or more butanes at an elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst comprising one or more alkali metals or hydride thereof deposited on an alumina support in the form of granules of sizes 5-60 B.S.S. mesh containing an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt. Catalysts used in the examples are 10-20 mesh Al 2 O 3 containing 10% KHCO 3 with K or Na-K alloy deposited thereon.
