Abstract
1310035 Helicopter rotors WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd 8 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 49006/70 Heading B7W A helicopter rotor assembly comprises a rotor hub having a plurality of first flexure members 12 extending therefrom, each flexure member being joined to a second flexure member 13 by a feathering hinge 14, each second flexure member being adapted to be connected to a blade 18. The first flexure members 12 are formed integrally with the rotor hub from titanium, each have a cross-section which is horizontally elongate at the root tapering to a circular crosssection near the hinge, and are each formed with an extension forming an inner cylindrical bearing casing for the respective hinge 14, the corresponding inner ends of the second flexure members 13 being each formed with an extension forming an outer cylindrical bearing casing for the respective hinge 14. The oblate crosssectioned parts of the first flexure members allows flapping movement of the blades and the second flexure members 13 and circular crosssectional parts of the first members 12 allowing both lead-lag and flapping motion of the blades.
