1309770 Packaging fluid substances FROMAGERIES BEL-LA VACHE QUI RIT 1 Dec 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 57029/70 Heading B8C [Also in Division F1] A device for simultaneously dispensing measured quantities of a fluid substance, such as melted cheese, into a plurality of containers 6 advancing intermittently along parallel lines, comprises a tank 11 for the substance with as many orifices in its bottom leading to passages 21 as there are containers to be filled, and dosing means 9 below the passages 21 with outlets 41 leading into conduits 53 to which vertically movable discharge nozzles 55 are secured. A dosing unit 2, a cam-box unit 3, and a drive take-off and release unit 4 are releasably attached to each other through screwdriver and slot driving connections. Cams 64, 65, 66 and 67 rotate on a shaft 62 and actuate the dosing and pouring mechanisms. Rotatable sleeves 24 have passages 25 which may be aligned with the passages 21 to allow pistons 44, driven by compressed air jack 97 through push-bars 45 on rod 48, to draw the measured amount of substance into passages 40 and then, after sleeves 24 have closed passages 21, to discharge that amount through outlets 41. Similar rotary sleeves 42 in discharge sections 10 have conduits 53 which are aligned with outlets 41 for discharge. The rod 48 follows the profile of eccentric cam 65 under the pressure of jack 97. Air is supplied to jack 97 through pipe 99 via a slide-valve controlled by cam 66. The amount of substance drawn in by pistons 44 is adjustable during operation by external knob 111 which adjusts the axial position of a piston 103 between jack ram 98 and rod 48 to limit the stroke of the rod 48. Adjustment with the device at rest is performed by manual rotation of bushes 112 between pistons 44 and push-bars 45. Sleeves 24 and 42 are actuated by cams 64 and 67 with followers 70, 71 carried on levers 72, 73 which control gear trains 78a-78d and 79a- 79d driving the sleeves 42 and 24. Unit 4 may be disengaged from driving engagement at 130, 131 with unit 3 to permit washing of units through ducts provided independently of other devices driven by shaft 126.
