Abstract
1309708 Tube expanders; making collapsible tubes UMP VENESTA Ltd 31 Aug 1971 40560/71 Headings B3A and B3J Collapsible metal tubes are given a frusto-conical form by tube expanders carried by a rotatable turret, the tubes being expanded as the turret is rotated. In the example, spring- collet tube-expanders 14 are used, Fig. 2, which are surrounded by elastic sheaths 22 and are expanded by tapered rods 27. These are moved axially, by stationary cams 36, 37, Fig. 1, when the turret is indexed by a Geneva mechanism. The turret 4 is attached to a second turret 11 which carries cam followers 32. Extruded, cup-shaped tubes are placed on the expanders at a loading station, finished tubes being removed as by compressed air.
