Abstract
1309636 Preserving food NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 4 Feb 1970 [17 April 1969] 19795/69 Heading A2D [Also in Divisions B1 C1 G1 and H1] Traces of oxygen in a sealed environment, e.g. a food can, are reduced by a composition comprising a hydrogen-bronze forming oxide compound in intimate contact with less than 2 wt. % of a component which dissociatively adsorbs hydrogen. The composition will also remove traces of hydrogen from a sealed system by adsorption. Specified oxide compounds are WO 3 W 2 O O 5À8 Na 0À6 , WO 3 and Na 0À1 WO 3 and MoO 3 and specified hydrogen adsorbing components are the Gp. VIII metals and molybdenum silicide.
