Abstract

1309619 Measuring speed electrically SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 22 Feb 1972 [4 March 1971] 8021/72 Heading GIN An arrangement for measuring the speed of a rotating member, e.g. one associated with a vehicle wheel, comprises a rotary disc 1 with apertures 2 disposed at equal angular pitch distances p around the disc, and a pick-up member comprising a magnet 3 so arranged as to provide two flux gaps at 6a and 6b respectively, the distance between 6a and 6b being an odd number of half pitches (as shown 1¢p), each gap being associated with a winding. The two windings are series connected and the signal developed thereby is shaped amplified, and passed to an indicating or control circuit, Fig.4 (not shown), the frequency of this signal being indicative of speed.
