Abstract
1308858 Silyl derivatives of penicillins CHINOIN GYOGYSZER ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT 19 April 1971 [16 April 1970] 27295/71 Heading C2A [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises silylated penicillin compounds of Formula IV and, in particular, the compound 6-[N-(α- chloro-carbonyl)-benzylcarbonyl]-N-(trimethylsilyl) - amino - penicillanic acid - trimethylsilyl-ester. The invention also includes a process for the preparation of compounds of Formula I which comprises reacting a trialkylsilyl ester of 6-aminopenicillanic acid of Formula II with a malonyl dihalide of Formula III and thereafter hydrolysing the compound of Formula IV thus obtained to remove the trialkylsilyl groups and the halogen atom so as to obtain a compound of Formula I or a salt thereof, and if desired subsequently liberating a penicillin of Formula I in its free acid form from a salt or converting the free acid form to a salt or converting one salt to another salt. In the formulµ, R stands for an optionally substituted aromatic or heterocyclic radical; R<SP>1</SP> stands for an alkyl radical; and X stands for a halogen atom.
