Abstract

1308166 Dihydropyrimidine derivatives AGFA-GEVAERT AG 4 Dec 1970 [13 Dec 1969] 57632/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Compounds of the general formula where Z completes a fused-on benzene ring and R is 3-carboxypropyl, 4-carboxyphenyl, 4-sulphophenyl, 5-carboxypentyl, 10-carboxydecyl, 2-carboxyphenyl or carboxymethyl, are made by condensing o - ethoxycarbonyl - phenylisothiocyanate with the sodium salts of 3-aminobutyric acid, p-aminobenzoic acid, sulphanilic acid, 6 - aminocaproic acid, # - aminodecancarboxylic acid, anthranilic acid and aminoacetic acid respectively. 2 - Mercapto - 4 - keto - 3:4 - dihydroquinazoline is obtained from 2:4-dimercapto-6- cyano-quinazoline; 1-(m-carboxyphenyl)-4-keto- 6 - mercapto - 4:5 - dihydropyrazolo - [3:4 - d]- pyrimidine is obtained from 1-(m-carboxyphenyl) - 4:6 - dimercapto - pyrazolo - [3:4 - d]- pyrimidine; and 2-carbozy-3-methyl-4-keto-4:5- dihydro-6-mercapto-thiopheno-[2:3-d]-pyrimidine is obtained from 2-ethoxycarbonyl-3-methyl 4:6 - dimercapto - thiopheno - [2:3 - d] - pyrimidine, by heating the respective compounds with alkali.
