Abstract

1307751 Adjusting mine faced conveyors GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 12 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 6828/70 Heading E1P A control member 18 extending between a mine face conveyor 10 and an advancing roof support assembly 14, 15, 16 is so connected to the conveyor that operation of means carried by the assembly and arranged to raise or lower a part of the control member remote from the conveyor adjusts the inclination of the conveyor and hence the position and attitude of a guide rail 12 adapted to receive and guide a mineral-cutting plough. As shown the control member comprises two vertically edgewise leaf springs slidably received in a housing 19 connected by shackle joints 27 to inde pendently operable piston and cylinder units 23, 24 carried by props 14, 15, the forward ends of the leaf springs being secured within a shoe 20 pinned to the conveyor the arrangement permitting relative movement of the conveyor and roof support assembly. If desired the control member may be made torsionally rigid. More than one control member may be connected to the conveyor.
