Abstract

1307265 Recovering polymers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 27 July 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 36325/70 Heading C3P Polymers are recovered from solvent cements thereof by (1) feeding the cement to a grinding plumping device simultaneously with a water/ steam mixture to effect vaporization of solvent at least to the extent of causing polymer crumb separation, (2) pumping the mixture to a separation zone in which vaporized solvent is removed, (3) feeding the resulting water/crumb mix to a screen to separate water from crumb, and (4) drying the crumb. Examples describe recovery of high cis polyisoprene (from hexane) and high cis-polybutadiene.
