Abstract
1307223 Dioximes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 May 1970 [16 June 1969] 30290/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the general Formula I wherein X is a halogen atom, a cyano, anilino or pyridinium group; Y is a halogen atom, a cyano, amino, dithiocarbamate, thiourea, pyridinium or mercapto group and R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen atoms or ester groups, provided that X and Y are not both chlorine, anilino or pyridinium when R 1 and R 2 are both hydrogen. Dichloroglyoxime bis-methyl carbamate of Formula III may be prepared by reaction of dichloroglyoxime with two equivalents of methyl isocyanate in ethereal solution in the presence of 2-3 drops of N-ethyl morpholine at reflux temperature for 1¢ hours. After allowing the mixture to stand for several hours, the crystalline product is recrystallized from light petroleum. 1,2- Dichloroglyoxime mono - (3,4 - dichlorophenyl carbamate) of Formula IV is prepared by reaction of dichloroglyoxime with 3,4 - dichlorophenylisocyanate under similar conditions to those described above. The potassium salt of 2-chloro - 1 (2,2-dicyano-1- mercaptovinyl - thio)ethane - 1,2 - dionedioxime of Formula VII is prepared by reaction of an alcoholic solution of dichloroglyoxime with an aqueous solution of di - potassium - 1,1 - dicyano - ethylene - 2,2<SP>1</SP>- dithiol, followed by recrystallization from aqueous dimethylformamide. The potassium salt of S - (2 - chloro - 1,2 - dihydroxy - iminoethyl)N - cyano - dithiocarbamate of Formula VIII is prepared by reaction of a methanolic solution of dichloroglyoxime with an aqueous solution of potassium N-cyanodithiocarbamate under nitrogen, followed by recrystallization from aqueous dimethylformamide. 1,2 -Dicyano - glyoxime - bis - (methylcarbamate) of Formula IX is prepared by reaction of dicyanoglyoxime withmethyl isocyanate in ethereal solution in the presence of 1-2 drops of N-ethyl morpholine base catalyst, followed by recrystallization from light petroleum. 1,2-Dicyanoglyoximebis - (3,4 - dichlorophenylcarbamate) of Formula X is prepared from dicyanoglyoxime and 3,4- dichlorophenyl-isocyanate in a similar manner to the preparation of the compound of Formula IX.
