1306933 Isothiosemicarbazones LILLY INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 May 1970 [20 May 1969] 25631/69 Heading C2C Novel compounds I (including salts thereof) where R is H or C 1 to C 4 alkyl, n is 0 or 1, Z is benzyl or C 1 to C 10 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H, C 1 to C 4 alkyl or primary, secondary or tertiary amino-C 1 to C 4 alkyl (including cyclicaminoalkyl, e.g. morpholinoethyl or pyrrolidinopropyl) or together with the adjacent nitrogen atom comprise a heterocycle optionally substituted by C 1 to C 4 alkyl(s), are made by reacting a corresponding thiosemicarbazone with ZX (X is halogen) or by reacting an S-alkyl or S- benzyl - isothiosemicarbazide hydrohalide with a 5-nitro-thiophene substituted at the 2-position by -(CH=CH) n .CO.R Pharmaceutical preparations, especially active against Trichomonas vaginalis, both the hepatic and intracaecal forms of Entomoeba histolytica and Schistosoma mansoni, contain I as active ingredient; administration may be orally or parenterally.
